The Board of the Central Council of Macedonians in Germany at an extraordinary meeting unanimously decided to demand immediate restoration of human rights for Macedonian citizens and to initiate legal proceedings.
As of February 13, 2024, the Macedonian government does not respect the basic rights of Macedonians around the world. In particular, the decision to invalidate valid passports without sufficient capacity to issue new passports has led to huge problems. Over hundreds of thousands of affected citizens have been affected by this measure, some even received appointments for passport renewal in October 2024.
In a letter addressed to President Von der Leyen, the European Commission, Chancellor Scholz, Federal Republic of Germany and caretaker Prime Minister Xhaferi, Macedonia, the Central Council of Macedonians in Germany calls for immediate measures to put an end to these human rights violations.
