The Skopje Public Health Institute (PHI) registered the most cases of whooping cough today. In the capital, there are 7 new cases, starting from babies, school children to adults, and the total number has reached 42. The largest number are unvaccinated. The closest contacts are under epidemiological surveillance, and the vaccination cards in the ward or class are searched for those diagnosed who go to school. Doctors’ recommendation is that everyone who has missed or delayed should receive a vaccine.
About 550 children were vaccinated in one week. Epidemiologists expect the number of cases to rise further because there are many who are not protected from the disease. The Skopje Public Health Institute says that an epidemic was declared in the capital on February 8.
