US designates Macedonian company Cytrox due to role in “Predator” spyware development

Macedonian company Cytrox AD, along with four other entities and two individuals, has been designated by the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) due to their role in the development of the “Predator” spyware.

The other sanctioned entities are Greek company “Intellexa S.A.”, Irish “Intellexa Limited” and “Thalestris Limited”, and Hungarian “Cytrox Holdings ZRT”.

Cytrox AD, which acts as a developer of the consortium’s Predator spyware, was added to the Department of Commerce Entity List on July 18, 2023, for trafficking in cyber exploits used to gain access to information systems, threatening the privacy and security of individuals and organizations worldwide.
