Four patients get a second chance at life – new transplant from a deceased donor

Another multi-organ organ transplant was performed on Wednesday in which one patient received a heart, other got a liver, two patients received kidneys, and in the coming days patients from the University Clinic for Orthopedics will have the chance to receive bone tissues as well.

Macedonian Caretaker Minister of Health Demiri expressed his gratitude to the family of the donor who decided to donate the organs of their loved one and thereby save at least four lives.

“Early Wednesday morning, the heart, liver, kidney and bone tissue transplants began. Organ donation is the highest act of altruism that makes us all better people by saving human lives. Many thanks to all the medical teams who are working with the patients and taking care of their health during these 48 hours,” said Demiri.
