The data of the Macedonian medical association are worrying. If in the ‘90s there were 18,000 physicians in the country, now that number is less than 7,000. The situation is becoming alarming because migration continues and every year more than 250 general doctors and specialists go abroad. On the eve of World Health Day, the Macedonian Medical Association said that in order to keep the young medical staff in the country, they should be motivated and receive a higher salary.
“Good regionalization should be done, better conditions should be provided for specialization, advancement, quick employment, in some way with scholarships while the medical students are studying and of course, the wishes for advancement or for the vision that the young people have for here should be respected,” said Prof. Dr. GoranDimitrov, president of the Macedonian Medical Association.
