The Democratic Union party (DS) demands a thorough investigation into the causes of the fire that burned down the Universal Hall, one of the symbols of Skopje.
“Thousands of musicians, actors, folklorists and countless other artists performed here in this hall, but the carelessness of the government and the greed for commissions and money burned it down. Attempts to relativize the consequences of the fire, that it is insured, that the metal construction is in order, etc., are just attempts to obscure responsibility. The Democratic Union demands a detailed investigation into the tender procedure for the selection of the contractor for the reconstruction of the hall, after how the company that should carry out supervision was chosen, how many protective measures were implemented to prevent fire and other types of accidents,” said the DS opposition party.
