Macedonian employees are paid three times less than civil servants, and their wages are eight times lower compared to the EU

Employees in Macedonia on average work for about 4 euros per hour, while officials and directors with wages of 2000 euros receive 12.5 euros per hour of work.

In addition to being paid almost three times less than officials, employees in the country also have eight times lower wages compared to workers in Europe, TV 21 reported on Tuesday.

According to Eurostat data, in terms of productivity and competitiveness, Macedonia will have serious obstacles if it has to enter the common market tomorrow. In terms of competitiveness, the country is in 82nd place out of a total of 141 countries.

The Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia proposed that the minimum wage in the private sector be MKD30,000, but that the contributions be reduced from 52 to 32 percent, in order to increase the competitiveness of the local economy.
