The European Commission for the Prevention of Torture and Inhumane treatment at the Council of Europe notes in the latest Report for 2023 that in Macedonia with SDS and DUI from 2019 to 2023 there is no improvement in the relationship between prison services and police officers during interrogations.

The report of the European Commission emphasizes that the overcrowding of prisons must not be an excuse for amnesty, because there is another solution for the same.

The report noted poor treatment of detainees in detention facilities.
