The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) expresses disbelief and deep concern about the decision of the government with monoethnic legitimacy to change the so-called “balancer” formula that determines the fair representation of all ethnic communities before completely canceling it, DUI said on Friday.
“Ignoring the latest census data showing that Albanians make up 29.5 percent of the population, this government has decided to bring the percentage back below 25 percent, based on census data from 20 years ago. This action represents a direct attack on the principle of fair representation, one of the main pillars of the Ohrid Agreement,” said the Macedonian-Albanian party.
