Bechtel-Enka confirms the Government has no debt to the company, and the layoffs are at their decision and responsibility

It confirmed that the project continues to make good progress and that they remain committed to partnering with the Government to deliver highway infrastructure that strengthens connectivity, supports local employment and contributes to economic growth

The project continues to make good progress and we confirm that all invoices to this date have been fully paid by the Government, states the response of the Bechtel-Enka construction company on the occasion of the layoff of about fifty workers from the Gostivar-Tetovo region working on the highway sections of Corridor VIII.

A Bechtel-Enka spokesperson, at the request of MIA regarding the layoffs that were handed out to about fifty employees, responded:

“We are proud of our heritage throughout Central and Eastern Europe, delivering hundreds of kilometers of major highways, giving priority to local workers and supporting local communities and businesses,” reads the written statement.

It confirmed that the project continues to make good progress and that they remain committed to partnering with the Government to deliver highway infrastructure that strengthens connectivity, supports local employment and contributes to economic growth. The international company was firm and confirmed that all invoices to this date have been fully paid by the Government.

“We are working closely with the Government of Macedonia to align construction activities with current national priorities. This includes aligning workforce levels at different phases of the project to meet operational needs,” the company said.
