Over the past two weeks, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has filed 21 criminal reports for a total of 25 crimes related to domestic violence, of which six criminal reports were filed under an expedited procedure, the Ministry of Interior informs.
In addition, five criminal reports for gender-based violence have been filed in the area of the Skopje PD, three of which are for endangering security and two criminal reports for stalking.
Moreover, five detention measures have been imposed, as well as one precautionary measure in the Skopje PD area.
The majority of crimes related to domestic violence are for endangering security – 11 and 10 for bodily injury. Meanwhile, one criminal charge has been registered for serious bodily harm, failure to execute a court decision, unlawful deprivation of liberty, attempted murder and sexual assault and rape. As for the attempted murder in Skopje from a few days ago, the perpetrator has been arrested and intensive measures are being taken to fully document and close him with an appropriate criminal charge. As for the Interior Sectors, the Skopje PD filed five criminal charges, the Kumanovo PD filed two, the Shtip PD filed three, four have been filed in Ohrid, five in Strumica, and one charge was filed by the Tetovo PD and the Veles PD.
In the aforementioned two-week period, 39 events related to domestic violence crimes and 63 complaints related to domestic violence were reported nationwide.
Compared to the last few years, it is important to note that in 2025 there was a trend of increasing the number of detention measures imposed within criminal charges under fast-tracked procedure, which continues in 2026, especially after the legal amendments.
