AcoRistov, a graduate electrical engineer with many years of management experience in the energy, hydropower, water supply, water treatment, mining and infrastructure systems sectors, is a proposal for the new president of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) following the resignation of the current president Marko Bislimoski.

Ristov was voted in Tuesday by the members of the Parliament Commission on Elections and Appointments with seven votes in favor, two against and no abstentions.

The proposal for Ristov to be the new ERC head should be voted on at a plenary session.

Ristov, who is originally from Radovish, also served as Radovishmayor from November 2021 to October 2025.

In addition to Ristov, ShamilRexhepi from Tetovo, a master’s degree holder in economics and employed by the ERC since 2004, also applied for the position of ERC president. He did not make it to the shortlist due to failure to meet the criteria in the announcement.

The candidate does not meet the requirements of the announcement. A graduate economist is not listed in the announcement, and the citizenship is from 1995, which can be said to be invalid, said the Commission president GjorgjijaSajkovski.

MP ArbanaPasholi from DUI reacted, demanding an answer from the president of the Commission why the education criterion in the public announcement is limited in relation to Article 47 of the Energy Law.

“The ERC is an important institution for the energy sector and for the protection of the public interest. According to Article 47 of the Energy Law, the ERC president candidate can have education in several different fields, but in the announcement the criteria are limited only to the electrical engineering part and this creates a discrepancy between the announcement and the law,” said Pasholi.

Sajkovski explained that according to Article 47 of the Energy Law, the ERC consists of seven members, one of whom is the president, and the previous president Bislimoski had a master’s degree in electrical engineering. Bislimoski resigned from his position on February 12 this year.
