Five candidates are entering the race for the vacant seat on the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC), after SCPC member Cveta Ristovska resigned due to cases related to conflict of interest. Interviews with the candidates are scheduled for Friday in Parliament, and the selection will be made through a process that includes representatives from the non-governmental sector and the Ombudsman.

Borche Stojanovski, Milka Muratovska, Vladimir Klekovski, Marija Katralova – Kitanov and Antonija Andonova – Tasevski are competing for the post. Some of the candidates have names that match those of people registered as donors to the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party, according to data from the State Audit Office(SAO) from the 2014 and 2017 election cycles.

Antonija Andonova – Tasevski, who is employed by the Commission, appears on the list of donors since 2017 with a donation of MKD 25,000. Borche Stojanovski, also part of the institution, appears on the donor list since 2014, but in his case it is a period longer than a decade, which is not an obstacle according to the applicable criteria.

Among the other candidates, Vladimir Klekovski is a law attorney and brother of the director of the Health Insurance Fund, and is also a member of the VMRO-DPMNE Executive Committee. Milka Muratovska works as an advisor to the Ombudsman, while Marija Katralova – Kitanov is the head of the National Agency for European Educational Programs and Mobility.

The selection will be made based on a scoring system, and the selection committee is composed of representatives of non-governmental organizations and MPs from several political parties, including VMRO-DPMNE, VLEN, SDSM and DUI.
