The Department for Internal Control at the Ministry of Interior has found serious misconduct in the actions of as many as 39 police officers who were involved in interventions following reports of domestic violence related to the Ivana Jovanovska case.
As reported by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards has already submitted a report to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting of Organized Crime and Corruption (PPO OCC), where further responsibility will be determined.

The case of Jovanovska shocked the public after she and her six-year-old daughter lost their lives after falling from a building in Skopje’s Karposh, and information emerged that there had been previous reports of domestic violence.
According to information so far, the police were also called immediately before the tragedy, following a report of an argument between the spouses. Although there were indications of disturbed relations and potential risk, the police officers stepped back after Jovanovska stated that it was a misunderstanding.
