All institutes that generate quality in higher education should be at ease, but cases like the one disclosed yesterday by Education Minister VesnaJanevska, who announced that they had closed a private educational institute that was operating as a sports betting shop, will not be tolerated, Macedonian Prime Minister HristijanMickoski said Sunday.
“We cannot tolerate them because we must once and for all start generating quality, not quantity, in higher education. Our goal is not to close anyone down, our goal is to stop working for those who generate poor quality, that is, those who literally cripple higher education,” said Mickoski in response to a reporter’s question about whether the article of the proposed law on scientific research activity, which affects private institutes and calls their work into question, will be reviewed.
PM Mickoskinoted that the Government is ready to accept sound arguments regarding the set of three laws on higher education and science, which will be in government procedure as of Monday.
