Prime Minister Zoran Zaev held a phone call with Kiril Petkov congratulating him on being elected Prime Minister of Bulgaria. The two have agreed to keep working on finding an acceptable solution to unblock the process over the start of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations.
“I congratulated my colleague, Kiril Petkov, on being elected President of the Ministerial Council of the Republic of Bulgaria. I wished him a successful term and achievement of all priorities set in his government’s program that would benefit Bulgaria and its citizens,” Zaev posted on Facebook.
Zaev also pointed out that both of them expressed readiness to speed up communication and cooperation throughout multiple work groups in the areas of economy, culture, healthcare, energy, infrastructure and other areas of interest for the Macedonian and Bulgarian citizens.
“We agreed to keep working on finding an acceptable solution to unblock the process to start North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations, and a new positive impulse to strengthen bilateral relations in the name of a common European future,” Zaev said.
