Our EU accession policy is conducted with dignity, we are not humiliating ourselves, and our position is very clear, says Macedonia’s Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski.
“We are doing what is required of us. When it comes to the Growth Plan, we are far ahead of countries in the region, and this will be confirmed in the report due to be released in June. We are implementing everything in the reform part, and there is nothing we can do in the other part. Sofia is not the problem, Sofia is a good excuse to avoid solving the problem. We are waiting on several big capitals to decide whether they want an EU enlargement or not. If they want, they can solve the Bulgaria issue in one afternoon,” Deputy PM Nikoloski told Kanal 5 TV in an interview.
Nikoloski says he is still standing by the statement that Albania will not join the EU, not because Tirana isn’t doing enough to join the Union, but due to the fact that the EU is yet to decide whether it will enlarge.
“It is unfortunate that I was right and my only intentions were to give a warning on what would happen. The job of politicians is to make decisions based on the information they have, but also to inform the public on the reality and the truth,” added Deputy PM Nikoloski.
