The Macedonian National Bank is making continuous progress in the area of statistics, with high compliance with international standards and enhanced transparency. This was emphasized at the meeting of NB Governor Trajko Slaveski and the National Bank delegation with representatives of the Statistics Department of the International Monetary Fund, held on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings.

The meeting emphasized that the National Bank is actively contributing to the IMF initiative to expand the SDDS plus standard. In this regard, regular dissemination of an additional indicator, which refers to the indicator for net open foreign exchange position in relation to capital, began on the National Standard Data Page (NSDP) in January 2026.

Significant progress has also been achieved in the area of financial accounts, with the publication of quarterly transaction data. Thus, the National Bank fully implements the IMF recommendations regarding data coverage, thus achieving compliance with the latest international standards in this area.

In the domain of external statistics, activities are being undertaken to further improve the quality and detail of data. In this context, the project for establishing a single statistical data warehouse, financed by the European Commission through IPA 2021, is also being implemented.

In the domain of monetary statistics, activities continue to establish an integrated reporting system for statistical and supervisory needs. The by-laws adopted in 2025 and 2026 establish a comprehensive framework for aligned reporting by banks and savings houses, with the new system to be implemented as of September 2026, and the reporters are already actively testing it.
