Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski had a telephone conversation on Wednesday with the President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron and both agreed that there is no time to lose and stressed that further delay in the start of EU membership accession talks could have serious regional consequences and wide open the door for increased influence of third parties in the region.

That, they stressed, makes the issue of EU enlargement with the Western Balkans a serious security issue, the government’s press service said on Thursday.

At the meeting, Kovachevski stressed the intensive political dialogue in recent years and the engagement of President Macron and the Republic of France in relation to the EU enlargement process and the integration of North Macedonia.
