Israel, early Friday morning local time, launched missiles in a retaliatory strike against Iran, US TV network ABC News reported late Friday, citing a US official, while Iran’s Fars news agency, reporting on the blast, said an air defense system had been activated in the city of Isfahan.
Iran’s Fars news agency reported that an explosion was heard near the airport in the Iranian city of Isfahan, but the cause of the attack was not immediately known.
“The cause of those explosions is still unknown, the investigation will continue until the exact details of the incident are established,” Fars news agency reported.
The air defense system in the Iranian city of Isfahan was activated against “an object suspected to be a drone”, the source told the agency, which added that three explosions were heard near a military base in the northwestern part of the city.
CNN reported that several flights in Iranian airspace were diverted.
