The Macedonian Parliament established Wednesday the necessity for expedited adoption of the amendments to the Law on Government, related to the termination of the caretaker government, by 67 ‘yes’ votes and 13 against. This legal solution creates conditions for eliminating the objective reasons for which the model of a transitional or caretaker government was determined.
The proposed legal solution, with its delayed implementation, as stated in the explanation by the proposer – the Government, aims to ensure stability, legal certainty and protection of the public interest of citizens through a thorough and consistent completion of the initiated reforms.
“Due to the necessity for rational and responsible use of public finances, strengthening institutional stability and ensuring full democratic legitimacy of the Government as the bearer of executive power elected by the Parliament, this bill establishes a clear and enforceable legal framework, which will guarantee fair and transparent elections through the institutions established by the Constitution and laws and will eliminate temporary solutions established by political agreements in the past,” reads the explanatory memorandum to the bill.
