Macedonian Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska said Wednesday that the situation with the Skopje Faculty of Philosophy was very complicated and that she’s not competent to say whether any of the staff would be held responsible.
“There are other institutions in the country for this. I hope that the procedure will proceed as it should. I would like to believe that this is an isolated case and that it was not done with a bias, but that is precisely why the other institutions will have their say and will be handled as they determine,” said Janevska after inspecting the construction activities at the Krum Toshev Elementary School in Trubarevo.
When asked whether the master’s degrees will be canceled, the minister said that she was still waiting for the report, “but if the enrollment is canceled, the diplomas will also be canceled”.
The management of the Skopje Faculty of Philosophy announced at a press conference Tuesday that seven students of M.Ed studies and four of Ph.D studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, whose undergraduate studies were three-year professional studies, have their enrollment and student status canceled, i.e. their studies are being terminated. They pointed out that they respect and implement the conclusions of the State Education Inspectorate (SEI), which, during its supervision, found irregularities in the enrollment of these postgraduate students and made the decision to terminate their studies.
