Betrayals are part of the SDSM political code, while concessions, compromises and servility are their recognizable features when it comes to key state decisions and processes that have shaped the country, VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release Wednesday.
The ruling party accuses that SDSM, led by Venko Filipche, is still ready to make new concessions related to language, culture and identity, in order, as they say, to retain or win power and achieve its own interests.
“SDSM, with Filipche at the helm, as in the time of his mentor Zoran Zaev, is once again putting the country up for sale, offering the most sensitive national issues as a means of coming to power,” reads the release.
According to VMRO-DPMNE, issues of identity and history must not be the subject of political bargaining. They assess that SDSM’s approach to relations with Bulgaria means accepting foreign narratives, to the detriment of the Macedonian language, historical heritage and national interests.
The press release adds that SDSM and Filipche have no problem with relativizing the Macedonian language and identity, just to come to power.
VMRO-DPMNE urges SDSM and Filipche to stop manipulating the public with the thesis that “just one more small concession” will bring the country to EU membership.
“This story has been repeated for decades – starting with the flag, then the name, up to constitutional amendments – and it is never the last step. Trust among citizens is declining, results are lacking, and the price paid is ever higher,” reads the ruling party’s release.
