The latest poll conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI) shows VMRO-DPMNE with solid lead over SDSM.
If elections were to be held today, VMRO-DPMNE would get 19 percent of the votes, almost double to SDSM’s 11 percent. DUI would be the third ranked party with 8 percent.
The survey was conducted between April 8 and May with 1208 respondents, and when asked which political party they would vote for if general elections were to be held next week, VMRO-DPMNE has almost a double lead over SDSM, i.e. 19 percent of the respondents replied that they would vote for VMRO-DPMNE, while only 11 percent of the surveyed citizens replied that they would vote for SDSM.
For comparison, in almost every poll, VMRO-DPMNE has a convincing lead over SDSM, and this shows the fear of the ruling party, which is running away from an electoral confrontation with the opposition VMRO-DPMNE and its leader Hristijan Mickoski. Namely, just a week and a half ago, Mickoski, in an interview with a National TV show, stated that the only option that VMRO-DPMNE would discuss in the future was holding snap general elections.
