A psychological counseling center for children and adolescents was opened at the Public Health Institute (PHI) on Saturday, the first of its kind in the country, to provide professional support for children, teenagers, parents and teachers via the ‘My Appointment’ system, said PHI head Marija Andonovska.
According to Andonovska, the opening of the counseling center is part of broader activities to improve health services and restore citizens’ trust in institutions.
“Today, together with our guests, we had the honor of opening the first psychological counseling center for children and adolescents, the only one of its kind in the country. The goal is to enable professionals to work with children, teenagers, parents and teachers so as to overcome emotional, family and school challenges. The center will provide discussions and guided sessions to not only overcome challenges but also to further support emotional development, communication skills and overcoming all those barriers that children encounter or problems throughout life in preschool age, school age and a little beyond,” Andonovska pointed out.
The services, she added, will be available via family doctors and the ‘My Appointment’ system, which will give citizens access to psychological support within the framework of public health.
In addition to the opening of the counseling center, the PHI also presented new medical and laboratory equipment, as well as equipment that had not previously been put into operation. According to the PHI head, spatial and technical conditions were recently created to activate some of the expensive equipment that had not been used for years, and new devices were also purchased in accordance with needs.
