Energy security, accelerated green transition and regional connectivity were the focus of the address by Macedonian Deputy Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Miroslav Labudovikj at the XXIII Conference of Parliamentary Committees for European Integration and European Affairs (COSAP) held in Struga.
In his address, the deputy minister referred to the new Energy Law, which is aligned with European legislation, emphasizing that reforms must provide real benefits for the economy and business.
“The green transition is necessary, but it must be fair and economically sustainable. Mechanisms such as CBAM must not reduce the competitiveness of companies from the region, but should create conditions for their development and modernization,” Labudovikj said.
Special emphasis was also placed on the modernization of the electricity infrastructure through the development of smart grids, which will enable greater efficiency, better resource management and active participation of citizens and companies in the production of electricity.
“We cannot build energy systems of the future on infrastructure from the last century. Digitalization and smart grids create conditions for every citizen and every company to become active participants in the market and part of the energy transition,” Labudovikj noted.
