Macedonia officially promoted the project “Vezilka” – National Center for Artificial Intelligence, an initiative that should connect the domestic scientific community, state institutions and the private sector with the European infrastructure for the development of artificial intelligence.
The Macedonian “Vezilka” (The Embroiderer) is part of the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) and co-funded by the EU Programme Horizon Europe. Through the strategic partnership with the Greek AI factory antenna Pharos, “Vezilka” is embedding Macedonia into the European AI ecosystem, contributing to the European vision for an innovative and human-centered AI, said the event organizers.
According to the project documentation, the activities will be focused on five priority areas: language and culture, health, energy, public administration and agriculture. The goal is to develop specific solutions based on artificial intelligence – from Macedonian language models and digitization of cultural heritage, to health data analysis, optimization of energy systems, and automation of administrative services and application of smart technologies in agriculture.
