The SDS and Levica coalition is jointly blocking the adoption of the new Electoral Code, which includes the remarks of the OSCE and ODIHR, as well as the demands of the two political parties that were harmonized for months at the working meetings for the EC, VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson Valentin Manasievski said Monday.
“Venko Filipche a.k.a. Zaev and SDS oppose the decision to allow the Macedonian diaspora to vote in as many numbers as possible. As VMRO-DPMNE, we proposed that this be done electronically or by mail. This proposal was rejected by Venko Zaev and SDS because they fear that the citizens who left the country during their rule will not support their policies, and thus will suffer an even greater defeat in the next presidential elections,” added Manasievski.
“On the other hand, Apasiev and Levica, despite having their proposals accepted in the area of election campaign financing, are not signing the agreement that was built for months, among all political parties, in order to present themselves to the public as a party with which there are no negotiations. It is regrettable that in this way they are trying to score more political points,” noted the VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson.
“The single-digit ratings of SDS, but also of Levica are leading them to a stage of frenzy and implementation of policies with negative consequences for both parties.
Dear citizens, with this blockade, the fulfillment of the country’s reform obligations is called into question. That is why the European Union called for consensus and the timely adoption of the Electoral Code,” said the ruling party representative.
