Today’s meeting and visit is an opportunity for an open, honest and substantive conversation about our European perspective. About the reforms we are implementing and about the need for the enlargement process to remain consistent with the principles on which the European Union is built, trust, predictability, equal treatment and respect for the dignity of each candidate country.

Over the past two years, the Government has shown that reforms are not a declarative commitment, but a concrete work that is measured through results, through institutional changes, through economic indicators and through the creation of better living conditions for citizens, said Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski at a joint press conference with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood Marta Kos at the Government Media Center on Wednesday.

In his address, PM Mickoski emphasized the importance of fulfilling the goals.

“Our goal is to build functional institutions, a stronger rule of law, a more efficient public administration, a competitive economy and an environment that will strengthen citizens’ trust in investors,” the PM said.

“We are not doing this because someone is asking us to, but because we believe that this is the only right path for the development of our homeland and for the creation of stable institutions that will be able to respond to the needs of current and future generations,” Mickoski added.
