After four years, the Skopje Basic Civil Court has issued a verdict partially accepting the lawsuit filed by Orce Todorovski, former director of the VMRO-DPMNE headquarters and the party’s deputy general secretary and current assistant general director at MRTV, against former Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska, and the City of Skopje for defamation and insult.
According to the verdict, the court found that at a press conference held on December 6, 2022, Arsovska made false claims that damaged Todorovski’s reputation and honor. The statements related to the alleged purchase of 150 buses from Hungary and claims that Todorovski mediated the payment of a commission.
The court found that such statements constituted defamation, and Danela Arsovska was ordered to pay Todorovski MKD 100,000 in compensation for non-pecuniary damage.
With the verdict, Arsovska was also ordered to publicly publish the ruling of the verdict at her own expense in two daily newspapers, as well as to refrain from making the same or similar untrue and offensive claims in the future.
The court also found the City of Skopje liable, which, jointly with Arsovska, will have to compensate for the damage and publish the ruling of the verdict in accordance with the court decision.
At the same time, the court awarded the plaintiff MKD 16,457 for the costs of the procedure, while the remaining part of the claim was rejected as unfounded.
The verdict was issued by the Skopje Basic Civil Court under number 2115/723 and, in accordance with the Law on Civil Procedure, the parties have the right to appeal within the legally prescribed deadline.
