In addition to public debt, which in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026 dropped to 58.8% of GDP compared to Q1, there is also a decrease in state debt, VMRO-DPMNE MP Sergej Popov said Friday.

“On a monthly basis, we also have a drop in state debt of 0.2% of GDP. As of 30.06.2026, state debt amounted to 9 billion and 432 million euros or 51.7% of GDP, which is a decrease of 41 million euros compared to the previous month. This level of state debt is one of the lowest so far in a long time and shows that the country has a government that does not accumulate liabilities, but rather regularly and timely services them,” said Popov.

According to the ruling party MP, such economic parameters are not accidental, they are the result of economic activity in the state, household operations and policies aimed at a better life for citizens.

“As a result of well-planned measures and activities, for 7 consecutive quarters, GDP has recorded positive growth of 3% or above 3%, and on the other hand, in times of global energy price shocks, inflation is kept under control and is among the lowest in the countries in the region at 3.4%. In order to further stabilize public finances and develop the economy, with the ultimate goal of a better standard of living for Macedonian citizens, the Government led by VMRO-DPMNE will continue with intensive work and responsible policies,” Popov added.
