A commission has been formed to supervise the case of the woman in labor from the Shtip case, and two foreign experts will also be involved, Macedonian Health Minister Sasho Klekovski informed Wednesday at a press conference.

The minister was asked when the report on the woman in labor who remained paralyzed after a second cesarean section would be ready, whether there was a medical error or not.

“I established the commission for expert supervision. I can say that in order to raise the level of treatment of the work and build trust in the institutions, I invited two foreign experts to join the regular work. They have been sent all the findings of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate,” Klekovski noted.

The minister said that the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate (SSHI) did not find any omissions in the medical documentation. He added that two clarifications have been requested for two voluntary hospital discharges.

“I asked for confirmation that this was done. It has been completed, it has been forwarded to the expert supervision, they have been given time to review the documentation, there will be an online meeting on what else they think they need as documentation and then there will be a meeting, hopefully with the patient present, in which the final conclusion would be reached. I hope that by the end of the month there will be a conclusion, and that will depend on the availability of the experts engaged. The chairman of the commission is a gynecologist, there is an anesthesiologist from Belgrade, also a neurologist from Ljubljana, as well as a neurosurgeon from the St. Erasmus hospital in Ohrid, and a radiologist from Skopje”, Klekovski elaborated.
