Politics is based on talks. I’m one of those politicians who want to talk until a solution is reached. We’ll continue to talk in both cases. We know what our red lines are and within the framework of these red lines, we will try and find a solution, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters ahead of the Thursday’s Ambassadorial Council.
Our Constitution, he stressed, absolutely offers serious protection of the rights of all citizens in the country, including the Bulgarian community.
In response to a reporter’s question to comment on the statement of Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev that he would support the EU enlargement, but that they still remain on those demands for fulfilling the undertaken obligations and protecting Bulgarians in the country, Mickoski said that “our Constitution offers absolutely serious protection for all citizens in the country, including the Bulgarian community.
“Constitution offers protection of all communities in the country, including the Bulgarian community. And I’m not the only one saying this, but the Council of Europe, which treats human rights and therefore suspended its monitoring and post-monitoring mission in the country, says so too, which means that the human rights of all communities and all citizens are guaranteed by our Constitution. And now we come to the second topic, which is what we do with the Macedonian community on the other side of the border, considering that Bulgaria has ratified that it will respect human rights, and on the other hand, it continuously avoids registering the associations of the Macedonian community in Bulgaria, as is the case with OMO Ilinden Pirin, despite the fact that we have a dozen judgments by the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg,” underlined PM Mickoski.
