Macedonian air traffic is recording significant growth, and the number of passengers using the Skopje and Ohrid airports has doubled in just two years. From around two million passengers a year, as many as the two airports served during the period when this Government was elected, this year the number is expected to exceed or be close to four million, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski told TV Sitel on Sunday.

“When we were elected, just two years ago, somewhere around 2 million passengers were served by the two airports, this year we will pass 4 million. This is the result of an exceptionally wise policy that we are pursuing, not only in subsidizing, but in the general way of working at the two airports. A lot has been invested, we are currently investing a lot in the Ohrid airport, very soon there will be a lot of good news. So, if there is anything that gives me even greater motivation to work, it is the development of air traffic,” said Nikoloski.

The Deputy PM stresses that this way of working and managing airports was also recognized by EUROCONTOL, with the regional meeting for Southeast Europe being held in Skopje.
