The country has maintained the credit rating assigned by the Fitch credit rating agency. For me, this served as strong confirmation of the consistency of the policies we are implementing and a strong signal to continue on the same path, Macedonian Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska said in a social media post Sunday.

According to the FinMin, public finance stability and the fostering of economic growth form the foundation of the economic policy created and implemented by the Government; the effects are reflected in economic indicators, which in turn provide the basis for maintaining the credit rating.

As she notes in the post, economic growth in the first quarter of 2024 stood at 1.6%, the starting point from which we began. By making decisions that, as the minister emphasizes, ‘I can now say have yielded results, we have contributed to continuous economic growth rates hovering around or exceeding 3%, culminating in a growth rate of 4.3% in the most recently published data for Q2. We are not talking merely about a single exceptionally good quarter, but rather a continuity of positive economic trends.’

Investments form the foundation upon which we base our economic policy, Dimitrieska-Kochoska adds in her post.

Gross investments increased by 16.5% in Q2 2026 alone. According to Dimitrieska-Kochoska, the country is simultaneously paying interest and settling obligations incurred in the past.
