A.D. (39), from the Kumanovo village of Cherkezi, has been ordered to serve eight days in detention due to threats made against Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski via social media.
The Kumanovo Police Department filed criminal charges based on reasonable suspicion of the criminal offense of endangering safety under Article 144, Paragraph 5 of the Criminal Code.
Responding to a reporter’s question Monday, Prime Minister Mickoski says that the individual has been apprehended and that institutions are taking measures within their jurisdiction.
“I found out yesterday about those threats written on social media, that I was a pig and would be slaughtered in the town square. He directed profanities at me and my family. After all, I represent an institution; were that not the case, I would know how to handle such matters. The institutions have exercised their authority; the individual has been apprehended through the Ministry of Interior and will be processed through the judicial system to face the consequences,” the PM said.
On Friday, the suspect posted a threatening comment on PM Mickoski’s social media profile.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) said Monday that the individual had a history of committing other violent crimes, specifically acts of violence and usury, as well as numerous offenses involving the disturbance of public order and peace.
