These are the double standards of a segment of the Macedonian judiciary controlled directly by SDS and DUI. You get four years in prison for pulling someone’s hair. You get three years in prison for stealing 150 kebabs, VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson Valentin Manasievski said Wednesday.
“Yet for the Laskarci case, where 16 people died; the Modular Hospital case, where 14 people died; or the Mazut case, estimated at EUR 167 million, we see zero years in prison and zero accountability. The law applies to the ordinary citizen, but when it comes to the people and interests linked to SDS and DUI—and their operatives within the judiciary—those mechanisms immediately step in to protect them. This is the kind of justice SDS and DUI promised and delivered,” said the ruling party representative.
Manasievski stresses that this is why citizens lack confidence in the judiciary.
“It is unacceptable to have a three-year prison sentence for kebabs, while citizens wait years—often in vain—for final justice in cases involving the loss of dozens of human lives. The judiciary must not serve as a shield for SDS and DUI. The law must apply equally to everyone,” the ruling party spokesperson pointed out.
