MoI: Official approved fraudulent land privatization decisions

A resident of Struga is suspected of producing fraudulent land privatization decisions for other individuals between 2022 and 2024, and subsequently unilaterally affixing an official stamp certifying the documents as legally binding, said the Macedonian Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The Ohrid Interior Department has filed criminal charges against A.M. (61) on suspicion of abuse of office and authority, negligent performance of official duties, and forgery of an official document.

A.M. was employed by the Ministry of Finance, specifically at the Administration for Property and Legal Affairs in Struga, as an advisor and authorized signatory for official acts.

According to the charges, he exploited his official position to draft land privatization decisions benefiting other individuals. He unilaterally affixed an official stamp certifying the documents’ legal validity, despite failing to submit them beforehand to the competent institution for an opinion. The suspect then forwarded these decisions to the Real Estate Cadastre Department in Struga.

The case concerns actions taken during 2022, 2023, and 2024; following the filing of criminal charges, proceedings are underway to establish all the circumstances.
