Skopje police officers arrested an inspector from the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) Friday over suspicion of bribery, according to initial unofficial information obtained by the NetPress news agency.
According to investigative sources, the detained inspector is suspected of abusing her official position for personal gain. Unofficial police reports indicate that, while exercising her official authority, she conducted inspections and demanded unnecessary documentation, making the issuance of a favorable inspection report conditional upon the payment of a sum of money.
