Number of tourists in Macedonia rises, most from Turkey and Germany

In the first seven months of 2026, Macedonia was visited by 741,446 tourists, an increase of 1.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Growth was also recorded among foreign visitors, whose numbers rose by 1.3 percent, shoes the latest data from the State Statistics Office (SSO).

From January to July of this year, 523,751 foreign tourists were registered in the country, compared to 517,041 during the same period in 2023. Domestic tourists numbered 217,695, representing a 1.8 percent increase.

During this period, 1,760,335 overnight stays were recorded, marking a 0.5 percent increase compared to the first seven months of last year.

Visitors from Turkey continue to dominate the foreign tourist demographic in Macedonia, with Germany, Serbia, Romania, and Albania also ranking among the significant source markets.

In July alone, Macedonia was visited by 223,711 tourists, 6.6 percent more than in the same month last year. Of these, 127,418 were foreign tourists and 96,293 were domestic.
