Pulse case trial: 49 hearings, 1,390 pieces of material evidence presented, 45 witnesses, 5 expert witnesses testified

Since the start of the trial on the Pulse nightclub fire in Kochani, in which 63 people died and over 200 were injured, not a single hearing has been postponed.

A total of 49 hearings have been held to date, 40 of which took place this year, with another 15 scheduled through the end of 2026, officials reported Wednesday during a press briefing at the Skopje Basic Criminal Court.

The presentation of evidence by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) concluded on September 14. A total of 1,390 pieces of material evidence were presented, and 45 witnesses and five expert witnesses testified.
The presentation of evidence by the defense begins on October 1, with 244 witnesses announced.

The detention of primary defendant Dejan Jovanov-Deko is legally set to expire on October 3; the defense has already announced plans to file a property guarantee worth approx. EUR 200,000, although this procedure is not mandatory.
