One year after the introduction of educational assistants at the “PartenijaZografski” State School Center for Education and Rehabilitation, students with hearing impairments are making better progress and realizing their full potential.
This systemic innovation was implemented last September through the introduction of educational assistants in secondary schools and the transformation of the “PartenijaZografski” center into a resource center supporting students with hearing impairments. Marking the International Day of Sign Languages on September 23rd, an occasion highlighting that true understanding requires societal openness rather than a voice, underscores just how vital educational assistants are for these individuals.
One such professional is BrankicaZlatanovska-Vojoska, a special educator and rehabilitation specialist at the “PartenijaZografski” center. She notes that the school fosters an environment where every student has the opportunity for active participation and successful educational development through the use of modern methods, visual aids, adapted communication, and an individualized approach. The resource center plays a role in providing expert assistance, sign language training, adapted teaching materials, and advisory support for teachers, as well as continuous training for educational assistants and professional teams in schools.
