Charges filed against two State Lottery employees suspected of causing damages worth MKD 80 million

The Financial Police Administration has filed criminal charges with the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) against two employees of the State Lottery. They are suspected of committing embezzlement in office and falsification or destruction of business records, actions that allegedly caused the company damages amounting to MKD 79,989,444.

According to the Financial Police, the first suspect, A.N., acting as the head of the Finance and Accounting Department, along with the second suspect, D.D., employed as the Head of Financial Affairs, failed to deposit the full daily revenue from the company’s own sales outlets for 2024 (totaling MKD 46,038,720) into the company’s transaction accounts.

The complaint further alleges that an additional MKD 33,950,724 were withdrawn from the State Lottery bank accounts and unlawfully misappropriated. The Financial Police Administration indicates that, in order to conceal the shortage of funds, the suspects transferred money between the company’s bank accounts, created transaction orders, and executed payments and withdrawals that falsely represented the completion of significant financial transactions.

As part of the investigation, which is being conducted in coordination with the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, searches were carried out on Monday at five locations – four in Skopje and one in Valandovo.
