The judge in a preliminary procedure at the Skopje Basic Criminal Court ordered a short-term detention of 48 hours against Stojanche Jovanovski, the husband of the 31-year-old woman who, together with her six-year-old child, fell from a balcony in Skopje’s Karposh. Jovanovski is suspected of inciting suicide, causing bodily harm and endangering safety.

The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) informs that Jovanovski is suspected of several criminal offenses, including bodily harm, endangering safety and aiding and abetting suicide. The court accepted the proposal and ordered detention in order to conduct investigative actions, expert reports, analysis of video recordings and searches, which will help determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

“The detention measure is necessary to secure all evidence related to the suspicions of the committed acts,” the PPO said.

Macedonian Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski informed at a press conference that there were 10 charges against Jovanovski for violent crime, property crimes and illicit drug trafficking, as well as that he has been detained and criminal charges will be filed against him for inciting suicide, causing bodily harm and endangering security.

As the minister pointed out, just two hours before the fall there was an argument between the spouses and police intervention following a report of violence, but the wife denied it and at the time of the tragedy she and the child were alone in the apartment.
