The National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria ratified on Friday the agreement between Macedonia and Bulgaria for the construction of a cross-border railway tunnel on Corridor VIII, Macedonian Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski informed the public.

This agreement was also ratified by the Macedonian Parliament in December.

“With this, all conditions for the completion of the railway connection between Skopje and Sofia and Burgas have been met. I am proud that this Agreement, which we signed on November 6th with the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Grozdan Karadzov, will mean closer economic ties between the two countries and the two peoples, but it also shows Macedonia’s strong commitment to the realization of Corridor VIII, which is an exceptionally important security corridor of high interest to NATO and our strategic partners. We are also developing Corridor X and making Macedonia a true crossroads in the Balkans for the benefit of all Macedonian citizens. The work goes on!,” Minister Nikoloski said in a social media post.
