Macedonia will not charge customs duties on all industrial and agricultural goods imported from the United States. As for the United States, the country will maintain reciprocal tariff rates of up to 15%, except for exceptions, which provide for 0% duty, or exemption from duty, the White House announced in the Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade.

“The agreement will strengthen our trade relations, support common strategic interests, promote economic growth and deepen our transatlantic partnership”, the White House said.

With the agreement, Macedonia commits to completing the gas interconnector with Greece and to begin purchasing liquefied natural gas from the United States through the pipeline.

According to the statement, changes to the terms of the agreement are possible, which could potentially lead to further reductions in tariff rates for Macedonian products.

The United States will maintain at 15 percent the reciprocal tariffs, as set forth in Executive Order 14257 of April 2, 2005, as amended, on originating goods of North Macedonia, and will also identify products from the list set out in Annex III to Executive Order 14346 of September 5, 2025, Potential Tariff Adjustments for Aligned Partners, as amended, to receive a zero percent reciprocal tariff rate. The United States and North Macedonia may consider other tariff modifications following conclusion of the Agreement, taking into account trade balances and other appropriate factors.

The two countries will also take a number of other steps, namely the United States and Macedonia will work on the problematic for the United States non-tariff “barriers imposed by North Macedonia that affect bilateral trade in priority areas.

Among them is Macedonia’s obligation not to tax digital services originating in the United States and to support the United States in its attempt at the World Trade Organization to impose a permanent moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions.

Macedonia commits to implement high-level environmental protection, work on respecting intellectual property, and address labor issues.
