In memory of the victims, the Citizens’ Association “16th March 2025 Kochani” organized a gathering in front of the former Pulse nightclub Sunday night. Citizens gathered at 2:15 am, and at 2:32 am, the moment when the fire broke out a year ago, a several-minute silence was held to pay tribute to the victims.

In front of the area where the Pulse discotheque was located in Kochani on Sunday, 63 hearts with the names of all those who died in the fire were placed. The parents, relatives, friends and many others present laid flowers and lit candles in front of the 63 hearts.

The sadness and pain are immense, but the memories of their loved ones will live on.

“I don’t know if there is a word that is appropriate for the tragedy that you and all of us have faced. A tragedy that will forever remain part of the pain of the Macedonian people. I was left speechless for fear that there is no word that I can say that would be enough to describe what you and all of us have lost. But it is precisely words that keep us alive. The fight of the ordinary man for justice is a fight for memory versus oblivion. We are all in this together, we started together and we will continue together. All of us, in our own way, continue the memory of the angels that we lost on March 16, 2025,” said Borjan Eftimov from the “Who’s Next” movement.

A series of activities are being held in Kochani these days to mark one year since the fire in the Pulse nightclub, in which 63 young people and children lost their lives and over 200 were injured.

Firefighters from the Kochani Territorial Firefighting Unit led by the unit’s commander Dragan Apostolov also paid their respects in front of the Pulse nightclub.

“Let the light bear witness that we do not forget. Let the silence speak of the love that remains,” said the “16 March 2025 Kochani” association.
