The exact amount for the average consumer basket will be announced at Monday’s session of the Economic and Social Council (ESC).
“The average consumer basket has already been put on the agenda of the ESC, but we still do not have a response – proposals, remarks, suggestions from the other two parties, employers and unions. At this session, which will be held on March 2, I will put it on the agenda again for discussion. In the end, when we finalize it, a consumer basket will be revealed to the public that will be based on real data from relevant institutions. We will not have some consumer basket made by some professor or some people who are not relevant, that is, have not been checked by the institutions. Let’s not sow confusion among citizens, but let them know realistically how much money a four-member family needs to have to get through a month,” Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi pointed out.
The economy and labor minister reminds that the Government has spoken about the trade union basket many times so far and expressed its remarks.
“For example, they publish the data 10 days before the end of the month, they take into account the highest prices of food products, they also calculate the cost of rent. According to the 2021 census, 90 percent of our population lives in their own home,” the minister underlined.
