Macedonia remains fully committed to the European path despite the challenges and the standstill in the European integration process, Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski said in an interview with Euronews.
In the interview, FM Mucunski notes that the country does not build its pro-European orientation only through political rhetoric, but through concrete policies and values that are implemented in society.
“We are a country that is proud of its pro-European orientation, not only in rhetoric, but also in the values that we implement in our society,” Minister Mucunski stressed.
The FM reaffirmed the country’s strategic commitment to membership in the European Union, emphasizing that European integration remains a key foreign policy priority and the best mechanism for long-term stability, security and development of the region.
When asked whether delaying EU membership could push Macedonia towards countries like Russia or China, Minister Mucunski noted that “hybrid threats thrive where frustration grows and trust is lost.”
FM Mucunski also spoke about current security challenges, the role of NATO and the importance of Euro-Atlantic coordination.
“My view is that, thanks to President Trump, [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio, and the entire foreign policy apparatus of the United States, NATO is stronger than it has ever been,” FM Mucunski said during an interview for Euronews’ program “12 Minutes With”.
