Skopje’s Municipality of Aerodrom invites citizens to attend the ceremonial sending off of the participants of the 48th Traditional Ilinden Horse March, which will be held on the eve of the celebration of the great national holiday – August 2, Ilinden, organized by the Citizens’ Association “Ilinden March 1978”.
On July 27 (Monday), starting at 6:00 p.m., from the courtyard of the ‘St. Peter and Paul’ church in Gorno Lisiche, about 40 horsemen, including five girls, will set off towards Krusevo, continuing the almost five-decade tradition dedicated to the celebration of Ilinden and the Macedonian heroes, the municipality announced.
On July 31, the horsemen from Gorno Lisice will unite with participants from Sveti Nikole, Kichevo and Bitola, sending a strong message of unity, respect for tradition and preservation of the Macedonian historical heritage.
“The Municipality of Aerodrom invites all citizens to be part of the ceremonial farewell and together pay tribute to the Ilinden warriors, whose sacrifice and ideals still represent a symbol of freedom, unity and statehood of Macedonia today”, reads the press release.
